All parents would generally agree that they want what is best for their children. This starts from the time of birth (or even prenatally) all the way through their school-aged years and beyond. Of course, it’s difficult to know exactly what is “best” and what is available in the marketplace. That’s why parents are encouraged to do their research. And an event like yesterday’s Healthy Family Expo at the Vancouver Convention Centre is a great place to learn more about what’s out there.
Now in its second year, the Healthy Family Expo is an all-encompassing “eco and health event for the whole family.” There was a main stage where Bobs & Lolo held a couple of free concerts. The large play area featured such attractions as a climbing wall and bouncy castle, all of which were included with the price of admission. And then there was the trade show area where vendors were dishing out free samples and offering show specials on their products.
Similar to what we find at other events like EPIC Vancouver, there is a big focus at the Healthy Family Expo to provide natural, eco-friendly and healthy products for the whole family. You’ve got natural bamboo clothing and accessories from Bamboobino. Green Toys help to normalize the eco lifestyle for children. Foodies got to sample everything from Aussie-style Yamba Yogourt to PowerPlant chocolate, Ra Energy mixes to Gnubees smoothies.
We found unique teething products, natural remedies, cloth diaper services, grass fed dairy products, and great-tasting chocolate from Seattle. A number of experts were also around to answer questions related to dental health, vision health and other concerns that parents may have for their children. The event was well organized and Mike Granek from TopDaddies.com did a great job of MC-ing the festivities. He even gave away a couple of Baby Brezza baby food makers.
Everyone looked like they were having a good time and I fully expect next year’s show to be even bigger and even better. Check out some of the pictures below and visit my Flickr photostream for more shots from the Healthy Family Expo.
