There is nothing wrong with having dreams. In fact, it’s important to have a strong sense of ambition, because you don’t want become stagnant in your life. It’s about progress and it’s about bettering yourself in every way that you can. There is certainly a fine line between ambition and greed, but it is perfectly acceptable to reach for the stars.
They say that you’ll never know what is possible unless you strive for what is impossible. Only then can you truly experience the absolute limits of possibility, discovering something within yourself that you may not have known was there. Want to own a million-dollar home? You can. You just have to set out on the right path and put in the work to get that goal accomplished.
Yes, you should most definitely strive to be the best you that you can be, but at the same time, you have to remember to keep yourself in check. As you chase those lofty dreams, it is far too easy to get your head lost in the clouds, forgetting about everything else in your life. It’s easy to get obsessive over something when you have a passion for it. It is still important to have a realistic outlook, even if you happen to be chasing an unrealistic dream.
Further still, you need to keep both your feet on the ground. There is definitely something to be said about humility and giving credit where credit is due. Don’t forget to acknowledge the people who are helping you along the way, just as you should acknowledge the small victories that you earn on your way to a larger success. In short, be real and be grateful. Don’t forget about the little guy when you become the big guy.
Remember that any kind of vocational or monetary success that you gain is largely meaningless if you don’t have loving people around you to share it with. Friends and family are much more valuable than anything else on this Earth. Reach for success, to be sure, but remember to stay grounded too.
